Some weeks back I posted pics of things I did to my Z as part of the TT swap. I showed the vents I made to duct air out of the nose behind the ICs.
Some discussion followed about the appropriateness of ducting into the wheelwell. I promised to do some testing and report back. I set up a manometer to measure air pressure behind the intercooler with the vent open and again with it blocked. The test was done at 65 MPH with ambient air temp at 72 deg. F. The results showed between 520 and 530CFM improvement in air flow with the vent. This equates to 25 to 30 percent improvement overall. Note that the car is a converted N/A so there are no factory vents to evacuate the area behind the ICs. The vents could also be installed under the nose or in both places. I think this is a must have upgrade for folks with TT swaps who have no provision for venting. Rumor has it that some TTs do not have any venting either. This would also be beneficial for folks who upgrade their IC's as a way to improve airflow to take full advantage of the larger units. If there is any interest, I have designed a kit around my installation and can provide them for $50.00 which would cover my cost and just make it worth the effort to box and ship a set.
